Characterization of the Lovelock gravity by the Bianchi derivative
Abstract : We identify a fourth rank tensor which is a homogeneous polynomial in Riemann curvature and demand that the trace of its Bianchi derivative must vanish and which gives rise to a second rank symmetric tensor with vanishing divergence. This is how we obtain the analogue of the Einstein tensor for any order in the Lovelock polynomial.
