Participation and Application

The school will be open to research workers from all countries in the world, with an emphasis on the Balkan, Near East, Middle East and North Africa area. Preferably, the applicants should have completed some years of study beyond the first degree from a university. The school will be conducted in English language of which the participants are expected to have an adequate knowledge. The instructors come from the host institution as well as from the countries represented in the advisory panel.

The participation in the School is by invitation only. Participants who wish to receive an invitation, should send an application in the prescribed format and other necessary documents before August 1, 2005. The International Organizing Committee will make the selection of participants from the applications.

The application form and other forms required for admission to the School may be obtained from the ICFA Instrumentation Center Secretariat. Those who wish to apply through e-mail should request the e-mail version of applications from the e-mail address below.

Cost, funding, sponsoring

In principal, it is expected that travel and subsistence expenses of the participants will be borne by their home institutes. There will be a registration fee of $100. In order to cover organizational expenses for the school, the ICFA panel and the local organization committee are soliciting funds from various national and international agencies, mostly members of ICFA as CERN and World Lab (International), DESY (Germany), INFN and ICTP (Italy), IN2P3 (France), RAL (UK), TRIUMF (Canada), DOE, FNAL, NSF, BNL, SLAC and Open Society (USA), KEK (Japan) etc. The larger fraction of the funds is made available to support primarily the participants from developing countries to cover travel expenses. Partial support for subsistence expenses may also be available for some of the needy participants. Such financial support will be available only to those who attend the entire activity and who are actively pursuing research in related fields. As the scarcity of funds allows support to only a limited number of participants, every effort should be made by the applicants to secure financial support from funding agencies within their home country.
