Gilgamesh MDP-FERMIQCD (Lattice QCD) Related Benchmarks
2 Dimensional Pure SU(2) Gauge Theory Average Plaquette
We calculate the average plaquette for a 2 dimensional pure su(2) lattice gauge theory. The sample code is quite
simple and can be obtained here. We have used a the heatbath algorithm from fermiqcd package and run the inverse
gauge coupling squared from 0 to 8. The result with jackboot errors is presented below.
The time series for the whole simulation (that is the time it takes each monte carlo heatbath step during the
whole simulation) is as follows. As one can see the fact that small values of beta are disfavored for simulation
since it takes more time.
Finally we present a scaling analysis of the problem. We take total timings for the same program with different lattice
sizes everything else being kept the same. The data for 64x64 128x128 256x256 and 512x512 is as follows.
